New York, NY

Press Release

TBD is pleased to announce 05041958, an exhibition of works by Keith Haring to be shown together for the first time at our space on the Lower East Side. The exhibition will open on March 26th and close on May 4th, the 57th anniversary of Haring's birth.

Since Haring's soho debut at Tony Shafrazi Gallery in 1982 his work and legacy have become synonymous with downtown New York cool. Having lived and worked in the city for the second half of his life, Haring drew much of his inspiration from the gritty DIY scene that consumed Lower Manhattan in the 1980s. Although his name evokes images of jovial figures and barking dogs, Haring's work is inundated with themes of birth, death, sexuality, and war, reflecting the artist's deeper understanding of a city rife with crime, yet erupting with creativity. 05041958 will feature a materially diverse presentation of Haring's work that celebrates the artists's life and explores his connection with NYC.
